Magidei Shiur

Rabbi Aharon Sorscher

Rabbi Aharon Sorscher learned in Yeshiva of Staten Island and then learned in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ for many years. He served as a Rosh Chabura of the prestigious Dirshu Chaburah, as well as Bochen (examiner) for the new applicants to Lakewood Yeshiva. He is currently living in Southfield, MI where he is studying in the Kollel. He is also associated with the Yeshiva Gedolah in Detroit, and gives shiurim and guidance to the Kehillah of Cong. Yagdil Torah. With his extensive background and tremendous breadth of knowledge, Rabbi Sorcher is ideal Maggid Shiur for Shas Illuminated- raising the level of Daf Yomi.

Rabbi Avraham Schorr

Rabbi Avraham Schorr was raised in Baltimore , MD where he attended Yeshiva Ner Israel . He then went on to study in the Mir and Brisk Yeshivos in Yerushalayim, as well as Yam Hatalmud in Brooklyn , NY . He served as a Maggid Shiur in a number of Yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, and subsequently became the Rosh Kollel of Kollel Ohr Gedalyahu and Ohr Hamizrach. He currently is the Rosh Kollel of the Ramat Eshkol Choshen Mishpat Kollel. He has given shiurim on a variety of topics including Daf Yomi, Halacha, Gemara b’Iyun, and Aggada. His clear, engaging style has captivated and inspired audiences from many walks of life.

Rabbi Moshe C. Biron

Rabbi Moshe Chaim Biron grew up in Los Angeles.  He learned in Yeshiva Telshe Riverdale for high school and Bais Medrash and then in the Mir, Yerushalayim as a close talmid of R' Asher Arielli.  He then learned in Kollel in Yeshiva Mercaz HaTorah where he learned Kodshim for many years and was involved in putting out a new edition of the Keren Orah on Zevachim and Menachos with Ha'aros. Now he is a Shoel U'Meishiv in Yeshivas Mercaz Hatorah and also give Halacha Shiurim there.   In addition, he is Rosh Kollel of a night Kollel in Beiter, where he lives.
 Shas Illuminated is very fortunate to have R' Biron give shiurim for us.  His clarity, broad knowledge and understanding makes his shiurim a tremendous benefit to one who learns Daf Yomi and to anyone who wants to get a better understanding of the Daf.

Rabbi Yitzchok Schechter

Rabbi Yitzchok Schechter learned in the Kollel of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ for eleven years. Currently a writer for the acclaimed Artscroll series, he is involved in the production of an in-depth elucidation of Sefer Yirmiyahu in the Artscroll Nach Series. Rabbi Schechter has earned a reputation as one to turn to for sage advice, having applied his crystal clear lucidity to help many people navigate life challenges. With his unique Torah knowledge, experience and skill, it is an honor to have him serve as a Maggid Shiur for Shas Illuminated enhancing the learning of Daf Yomi..

Rabbi Avrohom Krohn

Rabbi Avrohom Krohn learned as a bachur in Yeshiva Sha'ar HaTorah in Queens and by R' Tzvi Kushelevsky in Eretz Yisroel.  After he got married he learned in Kollel at the Mir in Yerushalayim for 9 years and became a close Talmid of R' Asher Arieli shlita.  Since 2004 he has been a very popular Maggid Shiur in Bais Medrash Ateres Shmuel in Waterbury, Ct.  His crystal-clear style and vast knowledge make listening to his shiurim enjoyable and enlightening.  Shas Illuminated is truly privileged to have him on our roster of Magidei Shiur - bringing Daf Yomi to a new level.

Rabbi Moshe Aharon Friedman

Rabbi Moshe Aharon Friedman, a son-in-law of Harav Aharon Jaffin zt”l Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron, originally learned in Yeshivas Torah Temimah in Brooklyn, NY as well as Yeshivas Mir. He subsequently became a Maggid Shiur in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim and has enjoyed notable success with the many talmidim who have enjoyed his unique Derech HaLimud. Rabbi Friedman’s clear elucidation earned him wide renown, and some of his shiurim have been featured on Kol Halashon. We feel fortunate that Rabbi Friedman has agreed to serve as a Maggid Shiur for the Shas Illuminated series - bringing out the beauty in Daf Yomi.

Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Gorelick

Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Gorelick originally learned in Yeshiva of Staten Island for nine years. He then went on to spend fourteen years learning in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. A Talmid Chachom and educator of note, Rabbi Gorelick currently serves as a Rebbi in the Mesivta High School of Yeshivah Gedolah of Woodlake, headed by Harav Uren Reich, shlit”a. He is the author of a scholarly work on Laws of Techumin (the boundaries of Shabbos Walking) entitled “Gevul Binyamin”. We are lucky indeed to have Rabbi Gorelick serve as a Maggid Shiur for Shas Illuminated.

Rabbi Hillel Yosef Pfeiffer

Rabbi Hillel Yosef Pfeiffer learned in Yeshiva Gedolah of Montreal, the Mir (by R' Asher Arielli shlit"a), Brisk, Lakewood and Kollel Kesser Torah of Montreal. 
He enjoyed a close kesher with Rav Elya Baruch Finkel zt"l and assisted him in writing his sefer Apiryon Shlomo. 
Rabbi Pfeiffer has taught all ages from elementary through Bais Medrash in Yeshiva Gedolah of Montreal and Camp A.C. Heller, and has been the Rosh chaburah of a night Kollel. 
He is currently an 8th grade Rebbi in Yeshiva Orchos Chaim in Lakewood. 
We are honored and privileged to have R' Pfeiffer as a Magid shiur for Shas Illuminated.

Rabbi Levi Langer

Rabbi Levi Langer attended Yeshivas Ner Israel in Baltimore, MD and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. While in BMG, he delivered in-depth Daf Yomi shiurim to a group of married students which mirrored the current Shas Illuminated shiur format. He also served a Rosh Chabura for both Limud Gemara of several Masechtos as well as of the Nach B’Iyun Chabura, completing several seforim of Nach in their entirety. Since 2002, Rabbi Langer has been Rosh Kollel of the Pittsburgh Community Kollel where he has been teaching a wide variety of Torah topics including contemporary Medical Halacha, Nach, Gemara B’Iyun and other subjects. Shas Illuminated is privileged to have Rabbi Langer serve as a Maggid Shiur.

Rabbi Meyer Maryles

Rabbi Meyer Maryles was born and raised in the West Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. He learned in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim for many years in the shiur of Rav Asher Arielli shlit”a. He merited to have a close relationship with late Rosh Hayeshiva, Rav Nosson Zvi Finkel zt”l. Rabbi Maryles went on to join the esteemed Ner Gavriel Chabura where he learned many of the Masechtos not learned in the standard Yeshiva cycle. He received semicha from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg shlit”a, and wrote the sefer “Sha’arei Tahara” which bears the approbation of many of today’s great Talmidei Chachomim. Rabbi Maryles currently serves as a Rosh Chabura in Yeshivas Mir. He resides in Ramat Bet Shemesh, where he seves as a Morei Tzedek.

Rabbi Dan Krancer

Rabbi Don Krancer is currently the rav of Congregation Khal Derech Emes of Wesley Hills.  In addition, he teaches in Yeshiva Tiferes Shmuel and Ohr Naftali. He has been a Maggid Shiur for the Yeshiva Gedola of Montreal for 16 years prior to moving to Monsey in 2016. He also spent 6 years in Kollel Keser Torah in Montreal. He has studied in Yeshivas Brisk and Lakewood Bais Medrash Govoah.
Rabbi Krancer is an expert at identifying the key sugyos on the Daf and giving them over in a clear and exciting way.  We are very fortunate to have his shiurim grace Shas Illuminated.

Rabbi Avraham Kilstein

Rabbi Avraham Kilstein learned in Mir Yerushalayim for ten years, six of them under Hagaon Rav Refael Shmulevitz. He has given weekly chaburos in various yeshivos and kollelim. He presently teaches at Machon Meir (baalei teshuva) and Beit Prat (secular Israelis) and is a Rav in Kiryat Moshe.

Rabbi Shimon Bertman

Rabbi Shimon Bertman shlit'a is a native of Los Angeles and talmid of Harav Simcha Wasserman zt”l. He went on to learn in Yeshivas Bais Hatalmud in Brooklyn and later in Yeshivas Chevron in Yerushalayim. After a number of years of Kollel in Yerushalayim and Los Angeles, Rabbi Bertman served as a Magid Shiur and Rosh Kollel in a number of yeshivos in Yerushalayim catering to students from abroad. He has been a Magid Shiur for Torah Communications Network from the inception of the Dial a Daf project 30 years ago to this very day. Carrying the renowned Dial a Daf concept forward to the Iyun Kal format is a unique honor for Shas Illuminated, and we are happy that Rabbi Bertman is laying the foundation for this project.

Rabbi Shlomo Perlstein

Rabbi Shlomo Perlstein learned in Yeshiva Chasan Sofer, Ponovezh Yeshiva, Bais Medrash Govoha of Lakewood and went on to learn in Kollel Ponovezh.  He learned in Yeshiva Bais Yehuda in B'nei B'rak and was a close talmid of R' Dovid Feinstein, son of R' Michel Feinstein.  He then spent many years learning Choshen Mishpat, was meshamesh R' Mendel Shafran and served as a Dayan on R' Nissim Karelitz's Beis Din.  He served as a sho'el u'mayshiv and magid shiur for 10 years in B'nei B'rak and recently began serving as Moreh Hora'ah in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood in Yerushalayim and gives many shiurim in the neighborhood. 
He has been a highly acclaimed maggid shiur in Eretz Yisroel for the past 11 years, and is known for his exceptional clarity and tremendous breadth of knowledge; specializing in Choshen Mishpat topics.  We are very excited to have him giving shiur for Shas Illuminated- enlightening the daily Daf Yomi.

Rabbi Yaakov Karmel

Rabbi Yaakov Karmel learnt in Yeshiva of South Fallsburg and Brisk. He is currently a Rosh Chaburah in BMG and a R"M at Yeshiva Sharei Orah in Lakewood NJ.  We are very happy to have Rabbi Karmel's wonderful Daf Yomi shiurim on Shas Illuminated.

Rabbi Moshe Don Kestenbaum

Rabbi Moshe Don Kestenbaum​ learned in Yeshiva of Far Rockaway and then went on to learn in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.  He is​ currently​ a ​ popular​ ​R​ebbi in the Mesivta of Waterbury. ​In addition, h​e has authored two ​ widespread​ mussar seforim, Olam Hamiddos and Olam Ha'avodah.
​Rabbi Kestenbaum's unique insight and clarity will iyH be a big addition to the Shas Illuminated shiurim.​

Rabbi Yosef Sonnenschein

Rav Yosef Sonnenschein attended Yeshivas Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn, NY and then Pachad Yitzchok in Har Nof, Yerushalayim, where he developed a close relationship with its Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Yonasan David, shlit”a.  Upon returning to the States, Rav Sonnenschein studied halacha in Kollel B’nai Torah for several years before moving to Waterbury, Ct., playing a pivotal role in shaping the unique character of Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel and the Waterbury Kehillah.  He has been an immensely popular Maggid Shiur in the Beis Medrash, known for his unique style of depth and clarity in Gemara and Machshava.  As the community grew, Rav Yosef was called upon to serve as Rav of K’hal Bnai Shalom transforming the shul and community into a true Makom Torah.  He is also a source of counsel and inspiration to many in the community.  We are very fortunate to have R’ Sonnenschein as a S.I. Magid Shiur.

Rabbi Daniel Langer

Rabbi Daniel Langer learned in Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia, going on to learn in Yeshivas Brisk in Yerushalayim.  For the last number of years he has attended Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, at the same time serving as night Rosh Kollel of Chestnut Community Kollel.  He gives a very popular weekly Chumash shiur which is attended by many kollel and ba'alei batim alike.


Rabbi Gershon Meltzer

Rabbi Gershon Meltzer, a world renowned Posek, has his shiurim featured on Kol Halashon and many other venues.  His shiurim on a wide range of Torah and P'sak Halachah are popular all over the world.  In addition, he gives a blatt shiur in Yeshivas Mir and gives a very popular daily Mishnah Berurah shiur.

Rabbi Elkanah Austern

R’ Elkana Austern was born in 1968 and raised in B’nei Brak.  He later attended Yeshiva Spring Valley in Monsey, NY, and after returning to Eretz Yisroel learned in Slabodka and Ponovezh Yeshivos.  After his marriage he continued learning a few years in the Ponovezh Kollel.  Today he lives with his family in Kiryat Sefer where he learns in Kollel Yotzei Ponovezh.

Rabbi Mordechai Linzer

Rav Mordechai Linzer learned in the Mir Yeshiva for many years. Besides being a close talmid of Rav Asher Arielli Shlit"a, he also developed a close relationship with Harav Nosson Tzvi Finkel ZT"L, and Rav Refael Shmuelevitz ZT"L. He was a Rosh Chabura in the Mir, and is currently Rosh Kollel of Kollel Mei Hada'as in Yerushalayim. He has published seforim on a few Masechtos called Mincha Shleima.​
